Observation

The licensor observed in a photo shown by the licensee that the dog was taller than the gate that separated the dog from the children, while the dog was in the kitchen. The kitchen is a part of licensed space. The licensee also stated she believed the child reached over the gate and touched the dog in a manner that upset it. The licensor observed in the LD/CPS investigator’s notes that the dog’s veterinarian had stated that the dog’s aggression had been growing and during his last visit he had to be muzzled. The dog was then released from care during the next visit due to the dog’s aggression. The licensee also stated that the policy in her parent handbook is for children and families to not interact with her dogs. She stated she had reiterated this for her current dog as he was a puppy and still in training. For these reasons, the licensor finds the violation that an aggressive animal had contact with children is likely valid.
